Alma Luella Emblem was born May 19, 1901, in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Sam and Ragnild (Mork) Emblem. She was baptized and confirmed at Israel Lutheran Church, Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was an active member there until 1946 when she moved to Montevideo, Minnesota, residing at the home of her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Vidnes, and caring for Mrs. Vidnes during her illness. Before moving to Montevideo, she cared for her invalid mother for 12 years, until her death. While residing in Montevideo, she was employed at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital, and also was employed by several persons to do special care nursing during their illnesses. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo and active in church organizations until her sudden illness in February 1974 that left her paralyzed. She was a resident of Luther Haven Nursing Home, Montevideo, and the Clarkfield Care Center from 1974 until her death at the Clarkfield Community Memorial Hospital on October 16, 1980. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: John, Clarence and Selmer Emblem. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Clara Wallen of Benson, Minnesota; and one brother, Alfred Emblem of Clarkfield; and several nieces and nephews. Alma was a kind and loving person, and will be sadly missed by her relatives and friends. Blessed be her memory.
