Allen M. Applewick was born to parents Melvin and Anna (Sabe) Applewick at Clarkfield, Minnesota, on March 13, 1944. He was baptized and confirmed at Israel Lutheran Church of Swede Prairie Township, Minnesota, where he remained a lifelong member. Allen attended and graduated from Clarkfield High School, Clarkfield, Minnesota, in 1962. Following high school, Allen attended Southwest College at Marshall, Minnesota, for about one year. He then went to Alaska with his friend, Mike Gunlogson. He stayed in Alaska, built a home and worked in construction. He returned to Minnesota in 1990 when his father became ill and remained here the rest of his life. Allen did construction work with Ron Doty and helped Dale Berg install bins. He was always available to help, both at his job and in his church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He had made many improvements on the family farm where he lived. He made winter trips to Arizona for about the last five years. Allen and his friend, Lorry Hanson, were returning from Arizona when they were involved in an auto accident near Hendricks, Minnesota. His life ended on Monday, April 7, 2008, at the age of 64 years and 25 days. He is survived by two aunts: Tillie Enstad of Clarkfield and Cecile Berg of Clarkston, Michigan. He is also survived by first cousins: David Friberg, Carol (Enstad) Velde, Sue (Sabe) Sather, Tim Sabe and Elden Appelwick and several other cousins. Also surviving are his good friends Barb Harvey and Lorry Hanson, both of Clarkfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Anna, aunts, uncles and cousins.
