Alida Marie Stokke was born on July 13, 1917 to Jacob and Mathilda (Rice) Stokke at Belview, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Belview. Alida attended elementary and high school in Belview, and later worked in the area as a housekeeper. In 1937 she began working as a nurse's aide in Rochester, Minnesota. She married Arthur Anundson on February 1, 1939. One child was born to this union: Norma Ann in 1948. Art and Alida were engaged in farming until Art's death in 1952. Alida continued to farm until her marriage to Emil West on December 12, 1953. To this union one daughter: Rebecca Arlene was born in 1957. Emil and Alida farmed south of Clarkfield until Emil's retirement in 1974. Alida began working at Marshall Produce Co. until the plant closed down. She was currently a member of Spring Creek Lutheran Church. In her earlier years she was an active member of the Friendship Mission Circle. Alida remained on the farm until the time of her death. She passed away on March 6, 1994 in transit to the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital in Montevideo, Minnesota. She was 76 years old. Alida is survived by her husband Emil, of the Clarkfield Care Center, two daughters; Norma (Larry) Dahlman of Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, Canada, Becky (Allen) Klapprodt of Toronto, South Dakota, four grandchildren; Lowell Dahlman of Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, Canada, Sonja Dahlman of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Daniel and Dana Klapprodt of Toronto South Dakota. Alida was preceded in death by her parents, husband Art, brother Soren Stokke and sister Ceclia Anderson. Blessed be her memory.
