(Westgaard) Lukken
April 17, 1924 – January 18, 2022
Alice Lukken, age 97, passed away on Tuesday, January 18th, 2022 at Nelson Gables Assisted Living in Alexandria, Minnesota.
Alice was born on April 17th, 1924 in Riverside Township to Andrew and Hilma (Lee) Westgaard. She was the youngest of nine children. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dawson, and attended school in the Dawson area. On December 1st, 1946 she was united in marriage to Donald Lukken and together they had two children, Barbara and David. They started their life together living in a small house on the same farm as Donald's parents. In 1954 they moved to Clarkfield and lived there on their farm for 60 years. After she fell and broke her pelvis in 2017, Alice moved to Nelson Gables in Alexandria to be closer to her daughter, Barbara.
Alice was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and started working on family genealogy after her first trip to Norway in 1981. On a return trip to Norway in 1986, she was able to meet with members of her mother's family, as well as members of Donald's family.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Paul) Flykt; daughter-in-law, Laurel Lukken; grandsons, Christopher Flykt, Matthew Flykt, Nathan Lukken, Nicholas (Amy) Lukken; great-grandchildren, Courtney Flykt, Alexandra Flykt, Jayden Lukken, Elizabeth Lukken and Collin Lukken; 4 step-great-grandchildren, Cody, Cole, Trista and Keegan, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Hilma Westgaard; husband, Donald; son, David, and all her brothers and sisters and their spouses.
Visitation will be on Saturday, June 4th, 2022 from 10-11 AM at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church, followed by the memorial service at 11. Interment to follow at a later date at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens in Montevideo. Memorials preferred to Knute Nelson Hospice of Alexandria.
