Alice M. Nyland Severson Anderson was born September 27, 1914, to Olaus and Ida (Berg) Nyland of Clarkfield, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Spring Creek Lutheran Church, Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, and graduated from Clarkfield High School, Clarkfield, Minnesota in 1932. On April 18, 1936, she was united in marriage to Arvie Severson of Cottonwood, Minnesota, at her parents home. They lived in Cottonwood, Montevideo and farmed near Hazel Run, Minnesota. After they retired they moved to Clarkfield. Following the death of Arvie, Alice moved to Lennox, South Dakota, and married Edward Anderson of Lennox on March 10, 1979. Alice passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at the age of 94 years and 3 months. She is survived by her children: Ralph (Nona) Severson of Siren, Wisconsin, Curtis (Winnie) Severson of Clarkfield and Sally Christianson of Clarkfield. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren; sisters: Amy Larson of Clarkfield, Esther Donner of Montevideo, Minnesota, brother Ole (Eleanor) Nyland of Alexandria, Minnesota; numerous nieces and nephews; and her extended family: Marlene and Dan Danielson of Green Valley, Arizona, Dean and Gretchen Anderson of Sahuarita, Arizona, Don and Elaine Anderson of Lennox, South Dakota, Lee Anderson of Dublin, Virginia, Carol and Virgil Musch of Lennox, South Dakota; and their families. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Arvie Severson and Edward Anderson; brother Orville; sister Agnes; and son-in-law Curtis Christianson. Alice will be remembered for cooking, baking, playing piano and making afghans for all her family. She had a big influence on her family and enjoyed all her friends throughout her life.
