Alice Nellie Nelson was born August 20, 1912, to Nils and Alma (Erickson) Nilson on the family farm near Brookpark, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by Rev. Palm. She attended a country school by Brookpark. In 1926 the family moved to Boyd. During her younger years Alice helped with the housework and the children. In 1937 Alice cooked for the crews in the beet fields in Fargo, North Dakota. She also worked at Swift's, then later stayed home and took care of the home place. She enjoyed sewing and her flowers. She enjoyed quilting with the women at church. She enjoyed helping others. Due to her ailing health, she went to the Dawson Hospital on August 11, 1989, and entered the Dawson Nursing Home on August 18, 1989. There she passed away May 26, 1992. She is survived by sisters, Mae Strand of Chanhassen, Minnesota, and Ethel Leenerts (Dale) of Boyd; brothers, Anton Nelson and Lloyd Nelson of Boyd, Minnesota; and countless nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nils and Alma Nilson; brothers, Marriam, Everett, and Harold; sisters, Irene Iverson, Gena Fanter, and Edith Clausen; nephews, Dennis Clausen and Robby Leenerts. Alice was always a warm, loving person and will be missed very much.
