IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Lund
November 29, 1896 – August 26, 1966
Alice Isabelle Rexstad was born in Boyd, Minnesota, on November 29, 1896, the daughter of Anton and Margit (Foss) Rexstad. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith in the Boyd Lutheran Church in December of 1896 and was confirmed in the same church by Pastor H.O. Langehough on June 11, 1911. Alice completed her grade school in the village of Boyd on June 4, 1909, and then went on to complete her high school at Madison, Minnesota, on May 29, 1913. Upon completion of normal school at Madison, she was too young to teach or be admitted to college since whe was only sixteen years old, so she remained at home in Boyd for one year. She then went to Mankato State College and from there to St. Olaf College for two years. She returned home from St. Olaf to care for her mother who was ill. The family had at this time moved to the family farm, four miles northwest of Clarkfield, Minnesota. After her mother had recovered from her illness, Alice began teaching school in various districts around the Clarkfield, Hazel Run and Boyd area. It was while teaching in school district 85, west of Clarkfield, that she met Clarence L. Lund who had recently returned from service in World War I and was engaged in farming with his family on the Lund farm west of Clarkfield. On November 11, 1921, Alice was united in marriage to Clarence Lund by Pastor O.J. Erikson of Granite Falls, Minnesota. Mr. and Mrs. Lund moved to the Village of Clarkfield where she has spent her entire life. Two sons were born to the Lunds, Allen, who was killed in service in World War II, and James of Austin, Minnesota. Mrs. Lund was a member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church since 1921, has taught Sunday School and participated in many functions over the years. She was active in community affairs for 45 years and shared her music talent for which she was especially gifted. She particiapated in musical activities up to within eight months of her passing. She passed away on August 26, 1966, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital at the age of 69 years. She was preceded in death by her husband; her son Allen; her parents; and one brother, Almer Rexstad. She is survived by one son, James and daughter-in-law, Ardith Lund; granddaughter, Janet Ann; grandson, James Allen Lund; many nieces and nephews; devoted in-laws and dear friends. IN MEMORY OF MRS.
