Alfred Oliver Stenson was born May 19, 1890, on a farm in Lisbon Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, now owned by Bert J. Nelson. He was the fourth child in the family of seven children of Steen and Nelia (Langland) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Norwegian Lutheran faith and was a lifelong member of the Bergen Lutheran Church. On June 29, 1913, he was united in marriage to Regina Agre at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd by Rev. Edward Eid. They were recently honored on their golden wedding anniversary with all their children and grandchildren present for the occasion held at the Bergen Church. This union was blessed with four children: Nora (Mrs. Lawrence Johnson) of Poulsbo, Washington, Cyrus, at home, Evelyn (Mrs. Lucius Tongen) and Arden of Clarkfield. Alfred attended normal school at Madison before he started farming, which he continued until his death. He spent many years serving on the school board in District 26 and also served many years on the Consumers Oil Company board, of which he was still a member. He was active in church affairs and served many years as a deacon and a member of the Cemetery Board. Mr. Stenson passed away on Thursday, July 25, 1963, at Clarkfield, having reached the age of 73 years. He is survived by his wife, Regina; his four children; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, John, of Clarkfield; two sisters: Alma (Mrs. Gust Christopherson) of Clarkfield and Mrs. Tillie Ekholm of Montevideo. Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters: Mary (Mrs. Hans Skogen), Clara (Mrs. Albert Johnson), and Margaret (Mrs. Carl Hadenfeldt).
