Obituary

Alfred Tillman Reishus was born April 17, 1898, on a farm in Vallers Township, Lyon County, Minnesota, the son of Knute and Annette (Miller) Reishus. He was baptized by Rev. Martin Romstad at St. Lucas Lutheran Church on May 22, 1898. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on December 8, 1912, by Rev. T.H. Haugan in the then new St. Lucas Lutheran Church. He has faithfully served this church all his life, serving as trustee for several years and the choir, which he at one time directed, for over 50 years. On Sunday, December 27, 1931, he was united in marriage to Edna Berre of Normania Township. They moved to his farm in Vallers Township where they have farmed ever since. This union was blessed with three children: Avis and Karen of Minneapolis and Jerold, at home. Alfred passed away July 2, 1962, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, Clarkfield, Minnesota, after being hospitalized for three days, at the age of 64 years. Alfred was active in all the co-operative functions of the community. At the present time, he was president of the board of directors of the Cottonwood Oil Company of which he was a board member the past 25 years. The past ten years, he served on the board of directors of the Minnesota Valley REA at Montevideo. He is survived by his wife, Edna; three children: Avis, Jerry and Karen; two sisters: Myrtle (Mrs. Nuel Olson), Vivian (Mrs. Kurt Wendschuh), both of the local community; seven brothers: Orville, Clarence, Norman, Bill and Martin, all of Cottonwood, Stanley of Mesa, Arizona, and Franklin of Rapid City, South Dakota; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. K.T. Reishus and a brother, Howard, preceded him in death. IN MEMORY OF ALFRED T.
