Alfred Ole Eye was born June 23, 1903, in Sioux Agency Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Bert and Bia (Slettedahl) Eye. He was baptized in the Rock Valley Lutheran Church near Echo, Minnesota. At the age of 12, in the spring of 1915, he moved with his parents to a farm southwest of Clarkfield, Minnesota, in Tyro Township. He was a carpenter by trade but due to his heart condition he suffered for many years, he had to retire. He served in the Army in World War II and was an active member of the Minneota American Legion Post. Mr. Eye passed away suddenly on January 10, 1972, at 1:45 p.m., while attending the annual meeting of his congregation. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Orvin, and a nephew, Burton. He is survived by three sisters: Anna, Olga, and Laura, all at the home farm near Clarkfield; two brothers: Lewis of Clarkfield and Bennie of Clarion, Iowa; and four nieces. Mlitary rites were conducted by the American Legion Post 199 of Minneota, Minnesota, where he had been a continuous member for 29 years. IN MEMORY OF ALFRED O.
