Alfred S. Emblem, 71, of Clarkfield, Minnesota, died Friday, October 4, 1985, at the University of Minnesota Hospital. He spent three weeks in the intensive and coronary care units. Services were held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 9, 1985, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo, Minnesota, with Pastor Warren Peterson officiating. The soloist was RaNae Thompson with Lois Baker organist. Honorary Casket Bearers were Lambert Dombek, Stan Erickson, Lloyd Gorder, John Josephson, Virgil Ufkin and Emil West. Active Casket Bearers were Elroy and Gregory Bruess, Gregory Payne, Kevin Stensrud, Michael and Orlin Sundlee. Final Resting Place is the Clarkfield Lutheran Cemetery, Clarkfield, Minnesota. He was born July 27, 1914, in Tyro Township in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Sam and Ragnild (Mork) Emblem. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Israel Lutheran Church in rural Clarkfield and served on church boards. He transferred membership to Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. He spent most of his life in farming and later in sales and maintenance. On September 12, 1985, he was hospitalized at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital and transferred to the University of Minnesota Hospitals. He is survived by his wife Laila; daughter Wanda Aasen; grandson Christopher; sisters-in-law Geneva (Selmer) Emblem and Olga (John) Emblem; neices, nephews and cousins.
