Obituary

Alfred Brusven was born September 7, 1886, in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Haakon Brusven and Anlaug (Rowberg) Brusven. He was the first child to be baptized in the St. Lucas Lutheran Church on October 30, 1897, by Rev. Knute Thorstenson, who was then serving as pastor of the congregation. He was confirmed June 30, 1901, by Rev. Martin Romstad in the same church. He remained at home and helped his father with the farm work for a number of years. On March 25, 1916, he was united in marriage to Gunhild Christopherson and the young couple remained several years at his home until they moved to their new farm home in Normania Township, where he lived until his death. Mr. Brusven was in poor health for a long time, and had to retire from active farming several years ago. He passed away August 5, 1960, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, Clarkfield, Minnesota, at 73 years of age. Surviving are his wife and three sisters: Mrs. Ida Miller, Hilda (Mrs. Edward Fyksen) of Minneapolis, and Cora (Mrs. Torjus Ree) of Cottonwood, Minnesota; also three nieces and three nephews.
