Obituary

Alfred Samuel Brenden was born at Albaton, Iowa, on August 15, 1891, the son of Helge and Marit (Dokken) Brenden. He was baptized in the Skien Lutheran Church at Albaton, Iowa. The family moved to a farm in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, in 1904, and the following year, he was confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church by Rev. Martin Romstad. In partnership with his brothers, he operated the farm for a number of years. He served his country during World War I and was a member of the Cottonwood American Legion Post 503, and the Last Man's Club. For a time he operated a garage at Cottonwood. Upon retiring, he resided in a small home built by his brother located just east of the Cottonwood City park. Mr. Brenden suffered a severe stroke on October 7, 1965, and was taken to the Marshall Hospital, Marshall, Minnesota, where he passed away October 13, 1965, at the age of 74 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. Surviving are two sisters, Minnie (Mrs. Carl Anderson) of Franklin, Minnesota, and Nettie (Mrs. Bernard Mauland) of Cottonwood, two nieces and six nephews. IN MEMORY OF ALFRED S.
