Alfred B. Johnson died Tuesday morning May 21, 1974, at the Montevideo Hospital in Montevideo, Minnesota, at the age of 81 years. He was born in Lincoln County, Minnesota, June 18, 1892, to parents Berger and Carrie (Rowberg) Johnson. He was baptized at Hemnes Lutheran Church near Minneota, Minnesota, by Pastor Hoel, and confirmed at the Hope Lutheran Church in Minnesota, by Pastor Kleven. In 1910, he moved with his mother and family to Normania Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to his present farm home. November 26, 1914, he was united in marriage to O'delia Froland at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Froland of Cottonwood, by Pastor Martin Rumstead. To this union three sons were born. They are Delmore of Canby, Minnesota, Vernon of Cottonwood, Minnesota and Lewellyn of Tracy, Minnesota. Besides his wife and sons, he is survived by eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one brother Herbert of Montevideo, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters. Funeral services were conducted at St. Lucas Lutheran Church in Normania Township on May 24, 1974, with Pastor Fodness officiating. Casket Bearers were John Anderson, Ingolf Nygaard, Clarence Christianson, Thurman Kompleien, Carlton Varpness and Orville Kompelien. Interment was at the St. Lucas Lutheran Cemetery.
