Alexander Oliver Jacobson was born in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on March 23, 1888, the son of Olaf C. and Anna (Halovorson) Jacobson. He was baptized at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church of Hanley Falls on June 17, 1888, by Rev. Knut Thorstenson and confirmed at Spring Creek Lutheran Church in 1903, by Rev. John Salhus. Alex homesteaded in Joplin, Montana, in 1913 and returned to Minnesota in 1917 to be united in marriage with Julia Stevens of Hanley Falls. The marriage took place on the 7th day of July, 1917, and was officiated by Rev. G.L. Morrill. The couple then left for Montana, but returned to Normania Township two years later in 1919. In 1949 they moved to Hanley Falls. He and his wife spent several winters in Texas. God added his blessing of four sons to this marriage: Ariel, Harland, Kenneth and Howard. Mr. Jacobson's health failed the past two years and he succumbed to a heart condition while a patient at the Granite Falls Hospital on the morning of December 10, 1962, at the age of 74 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Ariel; his brother, Clarence and a grandson, Maurice. He will be missed by his wife, Julia, of Hanley Falls; his sons: Harland, Kenneth and Howard; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four brothers: Henry, Alfred, Herbert and George; two sisters: Mrs. Marie Mickelson and Mrs. James Stevens; and a host of other relatives and friends.
