He passed away Friday morning, October 26, 1956, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, Clarkfield, Minnesota, at the age of 81 years, six months and three days. He had been ill for about two years. He suffered much but showed great patience through it all and was resigned to God's will to leave here for the Heavenly Home. On June 25th, 1898, he was united in marriage to Miss Beret Kompelien and settled on a farm in Normania Township. To this union, eight children were born, six of whom survive him. One son, Harney Waldo died March 9, 1909 as an infant. His wife, Beret passed away July 2nd, 1914, and one daughter, Lillian (Mrs. Ralph Tufte), passed away September 4, 1935. On December 29th, 1937, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Mae Swenson and has since resided in Clarkfield. Alex Christensen was a member of Spring Creek Lutheran Church all his life and served as deacon and trustee from the time he was a young man until he resigned a few years ago. He also served as chairman of the board of County Commissioners and on the Welfare board for several years. He served as weed inspector for Yellow Medicine County and as chairman on the board of the Consumers Co-op Oil Co. for a number of years. He also worked hard to promote the building and expanding of the local hospital. Surviving him are his widow, Anna Mae, two sons, Clarence and Floyd of Clarkfield; four daughters: Idella (Mrs. Ludwig Peterson), and Blanche (Mrs. Olaf Froland) of Clarkfield, Inez Johnson of St. Paul and Vivian (Mrs. Adolph Kolflat) of Minneapolis; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; two brothers, Herman and Johnny of Clarkfield; four sisters: Mrs. Anna Lee of Madison, Minnesota, Mrs. Ida Anderson of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, Mrs. Caroline Carlson and Mrs. John Ford of Clarkfield; and a host of other relatives and friends. He will be sadly missed by his wife and children. Blessed be his memory.
