Obituary

Funeral services for Aleck Thompson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, were held Monday, February 11, 1974, at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Mr. Thompson died Friday, February 8, 1974, of an apparent heart attack, at the age of 82 years. Rev. Gordon Trelstad officiated at the service at the church and Rev. Merton Lundquist conducted the committal service at the graveside. Bradley Thompson, Paul Thompson, Tom Lundquist, Bruce, Lee and Dale Temte, all grandsons served as casket bearers. Final Resting Place is Clarkfield Lutheran Cemetery. Musical selections "Under His Wings" and "How Long Has it Been" were sung by Mrs. Muriel Friberg and Mrs. Ruth Sturgeon, organist Mrs. Ronald Donner. Aleck Thompson was born on April 24, 1891, in Norway to Anna and Thov Thompson. As a boy he lived in the Hazel Run area. On October 4, 1916, he married Bessie Lee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lee. To this union were born four children: Arda (Mrs. Merton Lundquist) of Omaha, Nebraska, Viola (Mrs. Paul Brutlag), Adeline (Mrs. Dell Temte) and Rodney Thompson, all of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Besides his four children, Mr. Thompson is survived by three sisters: Mrs. Anna Winson of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Alma Anderson of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Mrs. Emma Litsey of Minneapolis; 13 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and 13 sisters and brothers-in-law. Preceding him in death were his wife, parents and three sisters and an infant brother. Mr. Thompson worked at various occupations around Clarkfield until 1928 when the family moved to Minneapolis where he worked as a mechanic for 38 years at Northland Ice Cream Company.
