Albertine Friberg was born in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on August 30, 1885, the son of John and Saraline (Nelson) Friberg. He was baptized on October 25, 1885, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith July 8, 1900, by Rev. B.F. Bengtson. On November 1, 1916, he was united in marriage to Ednah Nelson. To this union four children were born, namely, Geraldine (Mrs. Phil Millemaci) of Eggertsville, New York, Elsmore of Minneapolis, Gloria (Mrs. Walter Byrnes) of Chicago, Illinois, and Charles of Brookings, South Dakota; and two granddaughters. Coming from a deeply religious family of the Lutheran faith, Mr. Friberg loved his church and was a loyal member of it. During his younger days he contributed much of his musical talents in the service of the choirs and various other ways and was always willing and happy to serve whenever he was asked to do so. He resided on the home place in Tyro until 1919 when he and his wife and baby, Geraldine, moved to Clarkfield where he was employed by his brothers, Swen and Theodore, in the hardware store business for a year. Following this, for nearly thirty years he was in the oil distributing business until he suffered an accident in February 1951, as a result of which he retired from active work. On Sunday evening, December 26th, 1954, at six o'clock, he suddenly passed away at the age of sixty-nine years, three months and twenty-five days. Besides his family he leaves to mourn his passing, a sister, Mrs. O.J. Anderson of Lancaster, Minnesota; two brothers, Otto of Minneapolis and Frank of Clarkfield; besides a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, who will all miss him and his many kindnesses.
