Albertha Jennie Anderson Johnson was born on January 5, 1910, in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County to Nellie (Rudell) and Albert Anderson. She was baptized on January 23, 1910 and confirmed on June 8, 1924 at Fridhem Lutheran Church in Tyro Township. She attended rural school through the eighth grade. "Boots" married Forest J. Johnson on May 27, 1934 in Clarkfield. They had one daughter, Sonya Kay. Prior to her marriage, she traveled to the homes of her aunts and sisters to help with the young children during new arrivals to the family, cared for her bedridden grandmother, Anna Anderson, and then clerked at the Lilljestrale store in Clarkfield. During her marriage to Forest they opened Johnson Apparel in 1953 and operated that business until 1959. After the closing of the store, she became active in many church and community activities including Ladies Aid, Sunday School teacher, RSVP Volunteer at the Clarkfield Care Center, Birthday Club, Hospital and Care Center Auxiliary and Senior Citizens. She was always happy, had a good sense of humor and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Boots passed away on Thursday, April 25, 1996, at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 86 years, 3 months, and 20 days. She is survived by daughter Sonya (Earl) Berg and grandsons: Steve (Deb) Hubbard, Eric (Krista) Hubbard, and Carl Berg. She is also survived by great grandchildren: Erin Hubbard, Jared Hubbard, Jordan Hubbard, and Hailey Hubbard and five step-grandchildren: Natalie Berg, Brenda (Irvin) Willander, Richard (Cindy) Berg, Tim Berg, and Scott (Tammy) Berg and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forest Jerome Johnson; her mother, Nellie; and father, Albert; and step-mother Jennie; brother, Harry; and sisters: Alice, Dora, Helen, and Alpha.
