Albert M. Martinson, son of Magnus and Johanna (Hollo) Martinson was born in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota on August 5, 1891. He was raised on the farm and attended rural school in Normania District #2. Albert was baptized and confirmed in the St.Lucas Lutheran Church of Normania Township where he was a lifelong member. On June 27, 1914, Albert was united in marriage to Clara Kompelien. To this union was born one son, Orrin. Albert carried on the family tradition of farming and was actively involved in the agricultural operation up to the very end. He was able to reside in his own home until last year, and at the age of 98 became a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center, Clarkfield, Minnesota. This year, on his 99th birthday, Albert attended the Kompelien Family Reunion held at the Cottonwood Community Center in Cottonwood, Minnesota. Albert enjoyed people, hunting, and the outdoors, area threshing shows, and the Agriculture and Transportation Museum at Hanley Falls, Minnesota, since its opening ten years ago. He was a member of the Farmers Union, Senior Citizens of Cottonwood and St. Lucas Lutheran Church. Albert passed away at the Granite Falls Hospital, Granite Falls, Minnesota, on Thursday, October 25, 1990, at the age of 99. Preceding Albert in death were his parents; his wife, Clara, in 1966; his son, Orrin, in 1983; two sisters, Minnie Lund and Emma Rorvig; and one brother, Oliver Martinson. Albert is survived by many nieces and nephews.
