Loken
January 14, 1895 – January 19, 1919
Albert George Loken was born at Clarkfield, Minnesota, January 14, 1895. His parents were Lars and Marie (Johansdatter) Loken of Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church of which he was a member at the time of his passing. He attended schools in Swede Prairie and Clarkfield and served with the 360th Infantry in active duty in France during World War I. He suffered a high explosive wound in his right hand and left forearm November 10, 1918. he returned to the United States on January 19, 1919, and received an honorable discharge from the service. After his return he attended the university of Minnesota where he majored in Agriculture and later engaged in farming on his parent's farm in Swede Prairie. On December 2, 1924, he was united in marriage to Nora Hanson by Pastor N.L. Otterstad. To this union seven children were born, one of whom passed away at the age of eleven months, Norma Kay. Mr. Loken was actively engaged in farming at the time he was stricken. He became ill on Saturday, May 4th, when he fell and struck his head while chasing some stray cattle and passed away on Monday morning at the Louis Wiener Memorial Hospital at Marshall, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Clara, and a brother, Ludwig. Deceased is survived by his wife, Nora, six children, namely, Lawrence of Canby, Minnesota, Audrey and Wilva of St. Paul, Albert Jr. of Westaver Airforce Base, Massachusetts, Ramona and Dorothy at home; five grandchildren; four sisters: Louise and LuElla of Minneapolis, Minnie of Independence, Iowa; Anne of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; two brothers, Marvin of Clarkfield and Elwyn of Independence, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. Albert Loken was an energetic, devoted and loving husband and father and a good, honest neighbor to all his associates. He will be sorely missed by many. Blessed be his memory. IN MEMORY OF ALBERT G.
