Albert "Albe" Julius William Meiers September 12, 1919 ~ August 30, 2015 Albe Meiers of Clarkfield, Minnesota, died on Sunday August 30, 2015, at the Clarkfield Care Center where he had lived for almost two years. He was born on September 12, 1919, in Polson, Montana. His parents were Julius and Helen (Maschmeier) Meiers. Albe graduated from Polson High School, attended technical school for arc welding, worked in Seattle at Boeing Aircraft, and enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1941. He served as a Staff Sergeant working in special operations in North Africa and Italy in photography reconnaissance during WWII. Albe attended photography school and worked with his dad, Julius, for 19 years at Meiers Studio in Polson, Montana. Albe married Shirley Neoma Larson on June 30, 1948. They had three children, Neoma, William and Jo Anne. The family moved to Seattle, Washington, in 1964 where Albe and Shirley attended Lutheran Bible Institute. Upon graduation he served at First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point, Montana, as their Lay Assistant for 10 years. Albe then served at Clarkfield Lutheran Church from 1976 to 1984 teaching Release Time, Sunday School, Confirmation and directing the youth program. In 1984 Albe retired from church work and maintained active membership at Clarkfield Lutheran Church. He continued his call to care for the sick and aged by faithfully visiting many in the Clarkfield area. Albe enjoyed fishing, biking, photography, singing, visiting, being a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. There was always humor and plenty of time for listening when Albe was around. Survivors include: his children, Neoma (Meiers) Haugan of Brooklyn Park her husband Jon and their son James. William Meiers of Rochester his wife Sonja, their children: Heidi (Meiers) Kamrath of Minneapolis her husband Jon and their three children: Noah, Kyra and Adeline; Britta Meiers Carlson of Boston and her husband Reed; Christopher Meiers of Rochester. Jo Anne Meiers Kilmer of Minneapolis and her husband Teak. Cousins and many nieces and nephews. Memorial gifts are preferred to: the Clarkfield Care Center or the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. A special thank you to the caring staff at the Clarkfield Care Center, Avera at Home Hospice, and Albe's many faithful friends who visited him regularly. Your kindness made a difference. The family invites everyone to join them for lunch and fellowship immediately following the service.
