Obituary

Albert W. (Abe) Pratt was born on July 27, 1906, to Edwin and Christina (Walz) Pratt in Oregon. He was baptized there as an infant. The family moved to Minnesota in 1912 where Abe was confirmed in Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Baxter Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota. Abe served in the Army during W.W. II, serving in the European Theater. He received the Purple Heart medal. On November 22, 1958, in Montevideo, Minnesota, Abe was united in marriage to Gladys Richardson. They made their home in Boyd, Minnesota. Abe farmed and also owned a garage in Boyd. He retired several years ago. Abe was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He was also a member of the Methodist Church of Clarkfield, Minnesota. Abe passed away on Thursday, May 9, 1991, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital of Dawson, Minnesota, following a short illness at the age of 84. Surviving Abe are his wife, Gladys of Boyd; four step-sons and one step-daughter, Luverne and Viola Richardson of Lewisville, Texas, Kenneth and Darlene Richardson of Amhurst, Ohio, Curtis Richardson of Ft. Worth, Texas, Harry and Linda Richardson of Hewitt, Texas, and Helen and George Lehnertz of Sioux City, Iowa; one brother, Charles of Boyd, Minnesota; two sisters, Lottie Hennen of Milaca, Minnesota and Nettie Oman of Walker, Minnesota; 14 Grandchildren; 21 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Abe in death were his parents and three brothers, Ralph, Oliver and Ulysses. He will be sadly missed by all his relatives and friends.
