Agnes Irene Broughton Severson was born August 29, 1917, in Westerheim Township, Lyon County, Minnesota, to Andrew and Ida (Hanson) Broughton. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church, Normania Township. Agnes graduated from Minneota High School, Minneota, Minnesotal in 1935. On March 18, 1937, Agnes was married to Raymond G. Severson, by Reverend H. J. Madland, at the parsonage in Cottonwood, Minnesota. They farmed in Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, until 1970, and moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota in 1972. After Raymond's death in 1992, Agnes continued to reside in Clarkfield until moving to Aitkin, Minnesota, in 2001, where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law. In 2006, she moved to the Aicota Health Care Center. Agnes passed away at the Aicota Health Care Center on Friday, July 18, 2008, at the age of 90 years, 10 month, 19 days. She is survived by her three children: Arlen Severson and wife, Juli, of Esko, Minnesota, David and wife Zan of Burnsville, Minnesota, and Ihleen Williams and husband, Gary, of Aitkin, Minnesota. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Katharine (Joel) Finifrock, Sara (Kraig) Skistad, Jon (Nicole) Severson, Erik (Katie) Severson, Ethan (Amey) Severson, SuZan Severson and Eran Severson; eight great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; one sister-in-law, Myrna Broughton; and four nephews. Agnes was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and five siblings: Carl, Alvin, Henry and William (Bill) Broughton and Mae Wegener.
