Obituary

Agnes I. Anderson Voss was born May 22, 1938, at Montevideo, Minnesota, to parents William and Carrie Amanda (Tvedt) Anderson. She was baptized July 17, 1938, and confirmed May 11, 1952, both at Big Bend Lutheran Church. Agnes graduated from Appleton High School, Appleton, Minnesota, in 1956 and attended Willmar School of Practical Nursing, Willmar, Minnesota, graduating in May of 1957. She worked as an LPN in Montevideo until her marriage in 1959. Agnes and Donald James Voss were married August 1, 1959, at Big Bend Lutheran Church. They were the parents of six children: Steven, Heidi, Jeff, Mary, Karen and Naomi. Together they farmed and raised their children until Donald's sudden death in 1979. Agnes continued to help with the farm while working at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson, Minnesota, and caring for her children ages 9-19 years. She stayed on the farm until the early 1990s. She lived in Montevideo for several years; then settled in her home in Clarkfield, Minnesota, in 1999, where she lived out her life. She enjoyed many hobbies such as gardening, sewing and doll collecting. She also was an avid traveler, whether it was to her grandchildren's activities or on a bus across the country. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Tyro Township, and the LWML, active in the Clarkfield Senior Citizens and part of the Birthday Club of Cousins. Her greatest pleasure was in her relationships with her family and friends. Agnes passed away at her home on Thursday, September 4, 2008, at the age of 70 years, 3 months and 13 days. She is survived by her son Steven (Julie) Voss of Dawson, Minnesota, and four daughters: Heidi (Rick) Davis of Bloomington, Minnesota, Mary (Russ) Malecha of Montgomery, Minnesota, Karen (Peter) Szymanski of Denver, Colorado, and Naomi (Leah Raatz) Voss of St. Paul, Minnesota. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Rick, Kristen, Heather, Eric, Hannah, Noah, Mac, Claire and Madalyn; and two great grandchildren: Austin and Aliah. She is also survived by her Aunt Gloria and cousins: Barbara, Jerry and Debra; and many other dear relatives and friends, both past and present. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Carrie; husband Donald; son Jeffrey; and father and mother-in-law Ed and Hertha Voss. Her generous and kind heart, adventurous spirit and warm smile will be greatly missed. Blessed be her memory.
