Neil Gary Gunlogson was born in Clarkfield on September 8, 1937 to Steve and Marjoe (Gudmundson) Gunlogson. He lived on his parents’ farm for 60 years where he helped with farm work, especially milking cows and taking care of their chickens. He then moved to the Noyes family foster home in Porter where he lived for the last 20 years of his life, and during that time enjoyed working at the Canby DAC doing a variety of jobs.

Neil enjoyed any aspect of farming and loved to help and talk with farmers. He also liked to fish and watch Bandwagon on TV. He especially enjoyed his father’s fiddle music. Neil was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Porter, and attended services there regularly. He enjoyed being part of the community in Porter, attending various town functions and activities, and he looked forward to his almost daily visit to the Porter Café. His family especially remembers that Neil loved telling stories and carried forward his father’s tradition of embellishing them. And that he loved meeting people and visiting. There was no such thing as a stranger to Neil.
