Marion Irene Varpness

Marion Varpness died on July 5, 2019 at Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 91.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 13, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Clarkfield Lutheran Church with Rev. Matt Danielson officiating.  Burial will be in St. Lucas Lutheran Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Marion Irene Varpness was born on February 20, 1928 in Swede Prairie Township to Lars G. and Serine Louise (Martinson) Olson. She was baptized on April 6, 1928 at Israel Lutheran Church. She grew up in the Clarkfield area and graduated from Clarkfield school.  She was united in marriage to Delmar A. Varpness on July 18, 1945 by Rev. P.O Wee in Dawson, Minnesota.  To this union four sons were born: Duane, Jerry, Wesley and David.  Besides being a homemaker Marion worked at the telephone office, cleaning offices, elevator and bookkeeper for Farm Services.

Marion was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Clarkfield.  She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  She enjoyed playing games and  cards especially bingo, quilting, canning and visiting with family and friends.  Family will cherish her sense of humor and will forever miss this wonderful mother and kind and caring person.  

Marion is survived by her son: Wesley (Becky) of Canby, MN;  grandchildren: Nicole Jonker, Dana (Tami) Varpness, Latoya Varpness, Patricia Varpness, Natalia Varpness, Stacy (Jenny) Varpness, Sherry(Pete) Wyffels, Shannon Varpness, Shawn (Casey) Varpness, Stephanie Lang, Jay Varpness; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers: Vernon (Rhea) Olson, Ordell (Ruby) Olson; sister: Lila Mauland; daughters-in-law: Carol Varpness, Marilou Varpness; many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Delmer; sons: Duane, Jerry, David; great-grandson: Blake Wyffells; siblings: Glen, Milford, Lawrence, Walter, Opal Weberg and Edith Rund.
