Harold Zimmerman, of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, 78, died on Saturday, June 24, 1989 at the Granite Falls Hospital, Granite Falls, Minnesota.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 1989, at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls with Pastor Larry Olson officiating.

Burial was at East Yellow Medicine Lutheran Cemetery, Hanley Falls, Minnesota.

Vocal music was provided by Mavis Ellingson, Walt Kruger and the Hallelujah Messengers.

Honorary Casket Bearers were Ole Anderson, Floyd and Stan Engel, Lowell Hellie, Galen Radetzke and Kenneth Torke.

Active Casket Bearers were Richard Pike, Bernie, Dale, Darryll, DePaul and Roger Zimmerman.

He was born October 13, 1910, in Pine Island, Minnesota, to Gabriel and Emma (Kruger) Zimmerman. He was baptized into the Lutheran Faith at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Pine Island.

As a young boy he moved to Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, with is family where he attended Airy Knoll District No. 38 school in Hammer Township, Yellow Medicine County near Canby, Minnesota. He was confirmed at Zacchaeus Lutheran Church in Canby. He also attended Morris Agricultural School and farmed in Hammer Township until 1938. He worked in Seattle, Washington and Idaho and spent five years in Civil Service in Hawaii from 1942 to 1947.

He returned to Pine Island to farm where he met and married Marguerite Pike on September 24, 1950 in Rochester, Minnesota. In 1956 he accepted a position as a DHIA Supervisor for Yellow Medicine County and moved to Hanley Falls. He retained this position until his retirement in 1976.

He was an active member of the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church, singing in the Sr. Choir, Adult Bible Study and served as a member of the Church Council. He also served on the Hanley Falls School Board, was a former member of the Montevideo Men's Chorus and a current member of Gideons International. His hobbies were playing cards, watching sports and gardening.

Survivors include his wife Marguerite of Hanley Falls; one daughter, Zee Ann Reishus and husband Mark of rural Wood Lake, Minnesota; two sons, Lance of Stanford, Connecticut, and Jan and wife Jackie of Monroe, Louisiana; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Brandon and Tony Reishus and Julie Zimmerman; three brothers, Godfrey and Leon of Canby, and Edward of Mankato, Minnesota; one sister, Madeline Patterson of Largo, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dorothy and Gertrude; and two brothers, Thomas and Bernhard.
