Eunice Adelaide Anderson

Eunice Anderson, of Clarkfield  died Sunday,  November 19, 2017 at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 105.

Memorial services  will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Hazel Run Lutheran Church with Rev. Cody Mills officiating.   Burial will be in the church cemetery.  

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Hazel Run Lutheran from 9:30 to 10:30 AM .

Eunice Adelaide Anderson was born in Friendship Township of Yellow Medicine County near Hazel Run, MN on November 30, 1911.  She was the fourth child born to Gilbert and Ida (Husebo) Anderson, joining Erva, Lela, Orville, and then little sister Vernice.  She was baptized and confirmed at Hazel Run Lutheran Church and attended rural school.  Her mother died when she was only 3 years old.  Her father married Mathilda Droen in 1918 and she eventually became a big sister to 5 brothers: Leon, Arley, Marvin Erling and Odean.

Eunice helped on the farm and with the housework until 1946, when she moved to Minneapolis.  She stayed with her aunt Jeanette and started work at Bemis Bag Company.  After a short time, she purchased her own home in North Minneapolis, where she especially enjoyed her flowers and yard.  Later, she purchased a condo in North Minneapolis and lived there after her retirement from Bemis.  She loved to travel and went on many bus tours throughout the US and Canada.  She loved entertaining, spending time with friends and family, playing cards and games, shopping, going to garage sales and community events.  She was a special aunt to her nieces and nephews, always remembering their birthdays and special events.

At the age of 93, she suffered a traumatic brain injury from a fall and moved to the Clarkfield Care Center.  After her recovery, she enjoyed all the activities and new friends she made there and especially looked forward to seeing Erling and other family members.  Eunice passed away there on November 19, 2017 at the age of 105 years, 11 months and 18 days.

Eunice is survived by one brother, Erling (Stina) Anderson, Clarkfield; sisters-in-law, Pernilla Anderson, Clarkfield and Betty Anderson of Tucson, AZ along with nieces, nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Ida Anderson; stepmother, Mathilda Anderson; three sisters: Erva Tongen, Lele Larson, Vernice Dahl; 5 brothers: Orville, Leon, Arley, Marvin and Odean Anderson; a niece, Marcella Handeland and nephew, Daniel Anderson.
