Dennis Jorgenson Obituary

Dennis Jorgenson, of Clarkfield, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 87.

A celebration of his life and burial service will be held Monday, October 28, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Clarkfield Lutheran Church.  Rev. Jean M. Megorden will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM at the church on Monday.

Dennis Marvin Jorgenson was born on March 3, 1932, the son of Marvin and Bessie Jorgenson in Clarkfield. A proud, “100% Norwegian,” Dennis grew up in Clarkfield and on July 12, 1952 was wed to Beulah Mikelson of Hazel Run.

After serving in the U.S. Army posted at Fort Belvoir in Washington, DC, Dennis, Beulah, and new daughter Debbie returned to farm outside of Clarkfield.  They later welcomed children Denise, Michael, and Kelly to their family. A dairy farmer for more than 50 years, Dennis retired in 2002 and moved back into the family farm adjacent to Clarkfield to “live in the same house where he was born,” as he would often say.

Dennis was very jovial and easy to laugh (except with the cows!) with all his family, and many friends.  He loved telling stories about his many adventures and misadventures, always peppering his stories with his trademark laugh.  One of his favorite activities was playing dice for quarters with family and friends, and no family gathering was complete without relatives old and young sitting around his dining room table shouting, laughing, and having a great time.

One of Dennis’s most special and enduring legacies for his family was the cabin he and Beulah bought in 1969 on West McDonald Lake near Perham, MN.  Dennis’s children, grandchildren, and eventual great-grandchildren have all grown up spending their summers on that lake, either in that same little cabin, the cabin next door, or across the lake just a short boat ride away.  Dennis, or “Grandpa Dennis,” as he was known to so many who loved him, was a very social man and loved spending time visiting on his patio table overlooking the lake.  As his favorite saying went: “You can’t beat family can you?”

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Dale, Glen, and Mabel (“Toots”), his beloved wife Beulah, and daughter Debra (Miller).  He is survived by son-in-law Dennis Miller of Victoria, MN, daughter Denise (Jim) Potter of Albany, MN, son Michael (Barbara) Jorgenson of Clarkfield, MN, and daughter Kelly (Mohamed) Mandour of Fargo, ND, as well as his grandchildren Brandon, Justin, Trent, Zachary, Stephanie, Jamie, John, Anna, and Adam, and great-grandchildren Taylen, Shae, Millie, Addison, Harper, Beckett, and Miles.
