Arden "Snerd" Lynne

Arden “Snerd” Lynne, of Clarkfield, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 85. 

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Clarkfield Lutheran Church with Rev. Jeannie Megorden officiating.  

Visitation will be held on Monday from 5-7:00 PM at Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield.

Arden “Snerd” Lynne Jr. was born on February 25, 1933 to Arden and Esther (Anderson) Lynne. He was baptized and confirmed at Clarkfield Lutheran Church and graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1951.  He married Ethel Wilson on August 31, 1952 and the family was blessed with two children, Paula and Ross. 

Snerd worked for the U.S. Soil and Water Conservation Service for more than 45 years. He had a tremendous love for the outdoors, whether it was fishing or hunting. It was joked that his car could automatically find its way to Lac Qui Parle Lake because of all of the fishing trips he made there for many decades. Countless times he took his grandchildren fishing, experiences that provided lifelong memories. He also enjoyed hunting for many years.  Snerd spent numerous hours golfing and playing with his golfing buddies in Montevideo and area courses for many years.

Beyond a blunt and opinionated exterior was a very kind hearted and giving man. For many years he would make two trips a day to the Clarkfield Care Center to push residents back to their rooms after meals. He gave away countless amounts of fish he caught and vegetables he grew to people across town.  Snerd never wanted any attention or recognition for the many things he did for others. Snerd was always there for his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Survivors including his children: Paula Berg of Clarkfield and Ross (Teresa) Lynne of Clarkfield; grandchildren: Tom (Mari) Berg, Dan (Kristin) Berg, Jon (Tracy) Berg, Megan Lynne and Matthew Lynne; great-grandchildren: McKenna Berg, Morgan Berg, Mayson Berg, Teagan Berg, Logan Berg and Addilyn Berg; siblings: Mary (John) Solien of Aitkin, MN, Elizabeth Nordwick of Madera, CA and Stan Lynne of Ortonville, MN; sister-in-laws: Margaret Wilson of Duluth, MN and Lila Lynne of Black River Falls, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ethel; Ethel’s parents; son-in-law; Stan, siblings: Wesley Lynne, Richard Lynne, Ralph Lynne and Margaret Weingartner; brother-in-law, Galen Wilson; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
