Lee Strand, of Boyd, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at his home at the age of 53.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Baxter with Vicar Matt Danielson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017, from 4:00 - 6:30 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Baxter with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

Paul Leland (Lee) Strand was born February 29, 1964 to Paul and Luella (Van Rooyen) Strand in Montevideo, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Baxter. He attended Dawson-Boyd High School and graduated with the class of 1982. Lee was a farmer and raised hogs. He was active in church and enjoyed ushering. Lee was involved in a three-wheeler accident in March of 1988 resulting in a brain injury. This drastically changed life for him. He enjoyed deer hunting up north and especially fishing with his dad, which supplied family and neighbors with fish all summer. He enjoyed attending the school activities and sporting events of his nieces and nephews.

Lee is survived by parents Paul and Luella (Van Rooyen) Strand, siblings: Pat and Lauris Cole of Hanley Falls, Marion and Andrew Askegaard of Comstock, Mavis and David Hutt of Boyd, Peggy and Kevin Menning of New Auburn, Peter and Vicki Strand of Dawson. Nieces and nephews: Laura Fjoseide, Wayne Fjoseide, Isaac Askegaard, Samuel Askegaard, Joseph and Kirsten Hutt, Katie Hutt, Mason Hutt, Emily and Jake Walters, Allison and Matt Maas, Abbie and Tony Hardel, Danielle and Jarrett Wager, Alyssa Strand. Great-nieces and great-nephews: Alexandria Menning, Chloe Walters, Nora Hardel, Arlo Hardel, Cohett Hutt. Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by grandparents Palmer and Mildred Strand, Clarence and Lucy Van Rooyen; uncle, Jim Potter, uncle and aunt, Harvey and Joan Van Rooyen and baptismal sponsors Harold and Katie Iverson.

Lee's family wishes to thank relatives, friends and neighbors for all the support and love shown us over the last 29 years and during the past several days. We sincerely appreciate each and every one of you!
